One system across the transition

SALT AMS is a wearable amphibious mobility system built to reduce the size, weight, stowage and transition penalties of conventional fins. Retractable blades remain with the user during land and vessel movement, then deploy when propulsion is required. Multiple locking positions support short, maneuverable strokes or a fully extended paced swim. The system fits mission footwear from structured-sole dive booties to patrol and combat boots.

  1. Mission preparation: Public-safety personnel review SALT AMS and prepare the system over mission footwear.
  2. Marine-vessel mobility: Operators keep the blades retracted underfoot for clearance and movement on a confined small-craft deck.
  3. Boat-to-boat transition: SALT AMS remains secured to the operator during movement between marine platforms.
  4. Water entry and propulsion: The operator enters the water and deploys the blades when fin-driven propulsion is required.
  5. Recovery transition: The blades retract before rescue-basket recovery, reducing the need to remove, carry or stow separate fins.
  6. Basket hoist and return: SALT AMS remains underfoot through hoist, recovery and return to the platform.
  7. Next step: Public-safety, SAR, dive-rescue and marine units are invited to request a mission-specific evaluation.
